Data Centre Infrastructure Senior Manager EMEA

Our client’s company is a reliable provider of colocation and connectivity services with the best and most sustainable digital solutions. The initial location is Germany with 10 distributed Edge data centers, followed by other data centers in the Netherlands, UK, Belgium, Spain, France, Portugal, Ireland and Switzerland. Currently they have 30+ edge locations.
The data centers will also be integrated into a future-oriented energy infrastructure, which will contribute to a reduction in CO2 emissions in the generation, heating, and gas sectors through sector coupling. Thus, the function of data centers in Europe as an innovative lever for reducing coal and a stabilizing part of green energy infrastructure is being redefined from the ground up.
We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Senior Manager who will be overseeing the business model with Design&Construction and the site teams, educating and supporting as they move from a building under construction to a live Datacenter. Additionally, he/she will develop EMEA Operations Standards and SME Support for local site teams on complex maintenance activities and assisting in customer related technical queries and supporting site teams on technical topics.
Function
Support of Data Center Design
- Supporting the Construction design team on Operational requirements or enhancements
- Advise local Operations team on operational impact of changes & specifications specifically related to customer change requests
Support Sales & Customer Fit-Out
- Represent EMEA Operations towards the Customer, SE & Sales teams.
- Being the SME Escalation contact in case of major Infrastructure Incidents
- Work on customer RFIRFP and contractual documents for customers and give technical guidance to the team
- Coordinate with the local operations team and EMEA Operations on the specifications and approvals.
- Develop EMEA wide customer fit out stands and implement in each country
Support Construction of Data Center & hand-off to OPS
- Ensure global consistency in the way Operations works with D&C in data centre deliveries
- Provide specific product support for customers
- Being a SME to territory/country IBX team
Operations Standard
- Develop/Maintain/Optimize EMEA Operations Standards, policies and procedures
- Identify and implement tools to automate these Standards to improve quality and customer service
Systems Support
- Develops knowledge of and learns business systems (e.g., Itop, BMS) within the company to assist site team to ensure required assets are captured and properly mapped between systems.
Product Support
- Support the product team on new customer requirements to adjust existing products or defining a new product
- Support the site teams on technical specifications of the individual products
Documentation
- Assists in capturing technical variances by country or region as a result of country governance or legislation, helps then educate the rest of the Operations stakeholders in what these variances are and when they need to be considered in regard to customers contracts
Training
- Providing support in cross functional projects in how to capture technical differences between EMEA sites
- Develop Training standards based on the required local skill set
- Briefing Sites on trackers available and how they can be used to their advantage
Job Requirements
- Electrical Engineering, Engineering power background (certified Engineer preferred), including LV and MV Systems
- Relevant management experience within critical infrastructure, preferably in data centres
- Strong customer-oriented skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations with clients
- Ability to explain complex technical situations in simple terms, even to non-technical individuals
- Experience working in cross-functional groups
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required. Fluency in Dutch, German, or other European languages is a plus.
