Role Description
We are looking for a Junior Data Center Technician who will join one of the DCs in Amsterdam which has thousands of servers. You will serve as the initial point of contact for our colocation customers, offering assistance as needed. You independently handle tickets and provide support for both Linux and Windows systems when required. Identifying network or data center issues promptly, you possess the foresight to anticipate challenges and maintain clear and amicable communication. Your responsibilities include hands-on tasks such as deploying new racks and network connections, installing and removing hardware, upgrading servers, and conceptualizing and executing improvements within the data center. Additionally, you ensure proactive security measures are in place.

Responsibilities:

• 1st and 2nd line support
• Identify any (future) problems and solve or escalate where possible
• Guiding and supporting visits to the data center
• Process, manage and escalate customer requests
• Carrying out installations, configurations and upgrades
• Monitoring all technical components in the data center
• Daily routine activities within the data center

Qualifications:

• MBO working and thinking level
• 1 year of work experience in a similar position or relevant IT training
• Flexible with working hours (morning, evening, night and weekend shifts)
• The ability to solve common software problems in Linux and Windows environments
• Sufficient knowledge to solve problems with network and server equipment
• Dutch and English language skills, both spoken and written
• Customer-oriented, flexible and proactive attitude
• Ability to work accurately and precisely to also handle administrative work well
• You know how to work according to strict policies, for example when installing UTP and fibre optic patches.
